Naniwa Professional 1000 Grit

The Naniwa Professional 1000 Grit Whetstone, formerly known as the Chosera series, represents Naniwa’s premium line of sharpening stones, renowned for their rapid and consistent finishing capabilities. Crafted in Osaka, Japan, this stone measures 210 x 70 x 20 mm and weighs 800 grams. It features a magnesium-bonded structure with white aluminum oxide abrasives, resulting in a dense and hard composition that wears slowly and maintains a flat surface over extended use.

Designed for immediate use, this “splash and go” whetstone requires no pre-soaking; simply apply water to the surface before sharpening. Its 1000 grit rating makes it ideal for refining edges, offering quick steel removal without the need for excessive pressure. While the feedback is moderate during edge work, the stone truly excels in single-bevel sharpening and bevel polishing, leaving a beautiful finish, making it suitable for both Western and Japanese knives.

This magnesia-bonded stone is extremely hard and requires a diamond plate for flattening. It is a splash-and-go stone and should never be soaked to prevent bond degradation.
