Built around a single 1000 grit stone, it gives you exactly what you need to keep an edge sharp without overcomplicating the process. The 1000 grit is a medium stone, ideal for restoring a slightly dull edge and keeping your knives performing well with regular use.

This is not a repair kit for heavily damaged or extremely dull knives. Very dull edges, chips, or edge damage require a coarse stone in the 200 to 400 grit range to remove material quickly and reset the edge geometry.

Instead, this combo is designed for routine maintenance and edge upkeep.

How it works

The Naniwa Standard 1000 grit is where the sharpening happens. It restores a tired edge and brings it back to a clean, usable sharpness without removing excessive material.

Consistency is supported by the Naniwa angle guide, helping you maintain a steady sharpening angle, while the Naniwa stone holder keeps everything stable during use.

To ensure long term performance, the Suehiro 100 grit flattening stone keeps your whetstone flat, which is essential for accurate and repeatable sharpening.

The process is finished with a leather strop, used to remove the remaining burr and clean up the edge after sharpening. This step improves sharpness without additional steel removal.
